After a rigorous selection by the municipal selection and commendation organizing committee composed of Wuhan Municipal Bureaus of Human Resources, Finance, Science and Technology, Education, Foreign Affairs Office, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and other departments, Dr. Liu Rong, president of HC Semitek, was awarded the title of “Top Ten Outstanding Returnees in Wuhan”. Wuhan leaders at all levels attended the commendation meeting held by Wuhan Municipal Government at the CPC Municipal Committee Conference Center and presented awards to the winners on Dec. 23.

Dr. Liu Rong graduated from Arizona State University. He studied under Prof. Fernando A. Ponce, a celebrated scientist in the field of III-nitride materials. After obtaining his doctorate in materials science, Dr. Liu was engaged in the research on light-emitting devices as a postdoctoral researcher under Prof. F. Ponce. Dr. Liu has been at the forefront of the world in the R&D of III-nitride materials for broadband semiconductor materials. He has published over 30 papers in well-known journals at home and abroad, and has been invited to professional technical seminars at home and abroad dozens of times. Having conducted cooperative research with world-renowned companies and scholars in related industries for many times, he has solid theoretical knowledge and a wealth of experience in the industry.

As one of the company’s founders, Dr. Liu said that his award is inseparable from the tireless efforts of members of the founding team of HC Semitek. After three years of development, the company’s stellar blue and green LED chips are increasingly being recognized by customers.
