The 7th China LED Industry Healthy Development Summit was held in Shenzhen on Apr. 11-12. Jointly sponsored by China Solid State Lighting Alliance and China Electronic Appliance Corporation (CEAC), it plays a role in promoting the healthy, orderly and sustainable development of the semiconductor lighting and LED industry. The two-day event features many highlights. The leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology gave a detailed interpretation of the joint innovation policies for the LED/semiconductor lighting industry. Bai Weimin, the Vice President and Secretary-general of China Video Industry Association shared the development and technology innovations in the LED backlight application field – China’s television industry. Guan Jizhen, Vice President of China Optics and Optoelectronics Manufactures Association and Director of the LED Display Application Branch, delivered a report on the LED display market, industry overview and technology development trends. Chen Yansheng, Chairman of China Association of Lighting Industry, reviewed the development of the lighting industry in 2013 and looked forward to the development in 2014.

Dr. Wang Jiangbo of HC Semitek was also invited to give a technical lecture report at the forum. In terms of three aspects of the development trend of the LED sector, key technology of LED chips for displays and LED chips for HC Semitek displays, Dr. Wang explained the outlook of LED chip technology in response to the trend of display surface mounting. The report was enthusiastically received and praised by the participants.

Dr. Wang analyzed the research focus and technical factors in indoor/outdoor high-quality LEDs, and discussed the topics of interest to the industry including the future dimensions of display chips and technology development. Dr. Wang holds that high density indoor displays are the trend. In response to the high technical requirements of high-density displays for scanning, refresh and gray scale, the future technology development trends of chips are high consistency of wavelength and brightness and strong back pressure and current surge resistance. In response to the development trend of high-brightness outdoor displays, the chip will feature high brightness, good light patter and strong weather resistance.
