HC Semitek celebrated its tenth birthday in the past November. As a listed company that ranks second in China in terms of production capacity of LED epitaxial chips, HC Semitek is making efforts in capacity expansion, new product development, cost control and other aspects when the global LED lighting sector is in full swing. A new landscape is taking shape.

“HC Semitek insists on its concentration on chips and will not expand the entire industrial chain. Our goal is to become a professional chip supplier for producing high-quality LED epitaxial wafers and chips. Chinese LED packaging and application companies got off to an early start. According to the forecast data by GG Industry Institute (GGII), the total volume of China’s LED sector in 2015 stood at 396.9 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.1%. The output value of LED chips is expected to reach 13 billion yuan, up by 8% over last year.

Since last year, as chip producers such as San’an Optoelectronics, HC Semitek, and Aucksun are scaling up production capacity, coupled with a significant slowdown in growth for LED lighting demand and intensifying industry competition, chip companies – as the upstream player in the LED lighting industry chain – can feel this pressure.

Under the unfavorable situation of falling prices in LED chips, HC Semitek copes with new changes in the market through innovative means such as technology R&D and cost control.

“Adapting to market demand” has always been a silver bullet for HC Semitek to remain competitive. Different from some other Chinese chip manufacturers, HC Semitek is well-known in the industry for “manufacturing chips only”. In response to the market trend, HC Semitek launched chips for small-spacing displays, more cost-effective flip-chip solution, and the popular filament lamp solution.

HC Semitek has amassed rich R&D experience in flip-chips, and launched the “Yao” serial white light LED flip-chips this year. On the one hand, HC Semitek has made breakthroughs in luminous efficiency through technological optimization, and improved packaging reliability protection. On the other hand, it has achieved chip-level fluorescent coating for direct COB applications.

HC Semitek’s improvement scheme for LED flip chip technology was also shortlisted for the 2015 GG Golden Globe Technology Innovation Award.

Over 500 leaders of leading LED companies will attend the 2015 GG LED Annual Conference held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center during Dec. 11-12 to discuss the LED lighting sector in the next three years.
