The “15th National LED Industry Development and Technology Seminar and 2016 National LED Display Application Technology Exchange and Industrial Development Seminar” was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu on Oct. 26-27. Organized by the Optoelectronic Device Branch of China Optics and Optoelectronics Manufactures Association (COEMA) and COEMA LED Display Application Branch, this conference invited the relevant leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, well-known Chinese LED technical experts, and representatives of Chinese well-known LED companies to share the development status, technology progress, latest research results of the LED sector and valuable experience in LED application, development and production in the forms of reports, dissertation reports and industry forums under the theme of “collaborative innovation to assist the smart LED manufacturing in China”. This biennial industry event is a platform for communication to promote LED technological innovation and industrial development in China.

As the second largest LED chip manufacturer in China and the largest LED chip manufacturer for displays in China, Dr. Wang Jiangbo, Vice President of HC Semitek, gave a special report and Mr. Luo Hongbo, the product development manager, gave a technical report.

Dr. Wang delivered a special report entitled “Development Trend and Outlook of China’s LED Chip Market” at the meeting on the afternoon of Oct. 26, sharing the LED market and epitaxial chip trend with experts and industry professionals, and analyzing the technology improvement direction and trend of LED epitaxial chips. In the subsequent conference, Dr. Wang also answered questions on and discussed the chip-side technical issues with the participants.

Moreover, Mr. Luo gave a report entitled “Technical Directions of Chip Manufacturers in Response to the Development of Small-spacing LEDs” at the forum on Oct. 27.

The report explained the advantages and characteristics of small-spacing LED displays compared to other indoor and outdoor displays in the context of rapidly growing demand for small-spacing LEDs, such as low-brightness and high gray scale, high scanning, high refresh, and low power consumption and long service life. This poses new challenges to the technical direction of LED chips. HC Semitek is the first in the industry to unveil LED chips for small-spacing displays, and offer chip-level solutions for small-spacing LED displays. It shares the technical achievements and future development trend of the LED sector in the past year.
