The 13th China International Forum on Solid State Lighting (SSLCHINA 2016) was held at Beijing International Convention Center on Nov. 15, 2016. In keeping with the times and the industrial development trend, the conference under the theme of “Development opportunities for the LED industry in the new economy and new drivers” attracted experts and scholars, industry leaders, and industry leaders in the semiconductor lighting and related fields as well as relevant personages at home and abroad to discuss the development of the industry.

The semiconductor lighting sector is changing with each passing day, and technology is progressing consistently. As the industry and market mature, technical support becomes indispensable. Dr. Wang Jiangbo, Vice President of HC Semitek, delivered a technical report entitled “The insertion layer technologies for high efficiency III-nitride based LEDs” at the “chip, packaging and module technology” session at the SSLCHINA 2016. In recent years, III-nitride light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have attracted attention for their wide application in solid-state lighting and functional displays. To save energy consumption and cut costs, it is necessary to improve luminous efficiency and yield of III-nitride-based LEDs. Insertion layer technology is extensively applied to the epitaxial wafer and chip manufacturing processes of semiconductor devices like transistors, solar cells and LEDs in a bid to enhance device performance, reliability and yield. In the report, Dr. Wang talked about the impact of epitaxial wafer and chip insertion layer technology on the performance improvement of III-nitride-based LEDs, including common and novel insertion layer technologies. The report received wide attention from experts and scholars in the industry who held in-depth communication with Dr. Wang after the meeting.

At the closing ceremony on the afternoon of Nov. 17, Dr. Wang participated in his capacity as a guest in the discussion on the topic of “Cross-border M&A and Restructuring”. Dr. Wang said that M&A helps a company to integrate resources and form combined forces for development through external forces. It has the advantages of sharing brands, channels, and patents, but it is necessary to exercise prudence in choosing partners. China is a global production and gathering place of epitaxial chips. HC Semitek has been committed to the R&D, production and sales of LED epitaxial chips. HC Semitek has confidence in the LED sector and will endeavor to become one of the top three epitaxial chip manufacturers in the world.
