Xiaomi announced on October 28 that the new Xiaomi TV 5 will have quantum leap in picture quality and more unexpected surprises. It was officially released on November 5.

What does “quantum leap in picture quality” mean? Xiaomi gave the answer today. 

Li Xiaoshuang, general manager of Xiaomi TV (Air Conditioning) Department, said on Weibo today that Xiaomi TV 5 is equipped with 4K quantum dot display, with NTSC Color gamut up to 108%. 

It is reported that the quantum dot display is a technology that produces three primary colors of red, green and blue for display applications through the special photoelectric properties of quantum dot (QD) or semiconductor nano-crystal. This technology can accurately transmit light, increase the color gamut value of the display, bringing more pure and vivid colors. 

TV manufacturers such as Samsung and TCL have launched quantum dot TVs priced at 40,000 to tens of thousands of yuan. What surprise Xiaomi will give us in price this time remains to be seen.
