Argentine capital becomes the first Latin American city to achieve city-wide coverage of LED lighting
2019-06-20

According to local media reports, Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, completed the energy-saving renovation project for public place lighting in the city early this month, becoming the first Latin American city to use energy-saving LED lamps for municipal lighting.

160,000 street lamps and landscape lighting lamps in Buenos Aires have been replaced with LED lamps. The annual electricity consumption for public place lighting will be slashed by 50%, with average annual power saving of 85,000 kW⋅h, equivalent to 44,000 tons of carbon dioxide reduction. At the same time, 30% of maintenance costs for public place lighting will be saved each year.

An intelligent management system for municipal LED lamps is set up under the renovation project, whereby the computer system in the control center remotely monitors the public place lighting in the city in real time.
